Is Tulum Airport open?
No. The Tulum International Airport is still under construction. The airport is expected to be inaugurated in December 2023 and open by April 2024.
Which airport do you fly into for Tulum
Due to the fact that Tulum Airport is still under construction, all domestic and international flights will continue to arrive to Cancun International Airport until the grand opening of the Tulum Airport.
Can you fly directly into Tulum?
Not yet. Tulum International Airport (TQO) is currently 20% complete and is set to open in December 2023.
In the meantime, all visitors must fly to Cancun International Airport and make their way to Tulum via one of the following modes of transportation found here: Tulum Airport Transportation.
Where is the new Tulum airport located?

What happened to Tulum Airport
August 11, 2023 – Tulum’s Felipe Carrillo International Airport will be the new secondary hub for the once defunct airline known as Mexicana Airlines. The Mexican government recently resurrected the brand and spent 815 million pesos in the process ($47 million USD).
June 6, 2023 – According to president Lopez Obrador, the Tulum Airport is approximately 44% complete. (Video)
March 24, 2023 – The Tulum AIrport is expected to open in April 2024 and the first airline to operate will be Viva Aerobus.
December 2022 – The project has resumed and is currently 20% complete. President AMLO has assured the people of México that the project will be finished in December 2023.
September 2022 – The Tulum Airport was putting a halt to the construction of the 15.5b peso ($770M USD), highly anticipated new airport in Tulum due to budget and funding issues.
